Boy Found Alone On Hollywood Street Returned To Mom

HOLLYWOOD (CBS4) – The mother of a young boy who was found wandering alone in a Hollywood neighborhood Sunday morning  has been reunited with her son.

Around 9:30 a.m. Herman Augustine noticed the three-year old boy walking around alone in the 300 block of N 24th Avenue.

"I was walking out of my house to the store when I observed this little kid walking across the street.  It looked so peculiar because he was unsupervised," said Herman.  "I spoke to him in Spanish and he just gave me a smile."

Augustine said after he looked around and couldn't find anyone who could have been the boy he called police.

The boy was wearing a blue polo shirt with a yellow stripe, black jean shorts and red and white sneakers. After being checked out for any injuries he was turned over to Child Protective Services.

Police said just before 2 p.m. the boy's parents called to report him missing.  The family lives in an apartment building about a mile and half away from where he was found; he had been left with a babysitter.

After interviewing those involved, Child Service decided to return the boy to his mother.
