The chase started in Arleta around 3:38 p.m., officials said.
California Highway Patrol officers on Monday evening arrested a suspect in a silver Mercedes who led them on a brief pursuit along the 101 Freeway and surface streets in the San Fernando Valley.
The CHP said the chase started in the South Gate area.
A man shot following the end of a pursuit on a busy thoroughfare in the Sun Valley area is suspected in a series of violent crimes, CBS Los Angeles has learned.
The man was reportedly armed so police gave chase.
It was unclear what type of mail the suspects reportedly stole.
