'Mama Shotgun' On A Mission To Educate About Shooting Sports

FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM ) - Jeanie Almond is on top of her game!

In a sport dominated by men she was the first woman to ever win a National Shotgun Championship.

Known as 'Mama Shotgun' - Almond is on a mission to help young people with education and the world of shooting sports.

It's like golf… with a shotgun.

What used to be a gentleman's sport is gaining momentum with women due in part to Jeanie Almond. Founder of the popular Lipstick and Lead foundation, this grandmother of 24
is also set on educating young people in shooting sports with her Youth Target Foundation.

For Almond, it's more than just a hobby and a club sport. It's about leadership, respect and responsibility.

With more colleges offering scholarships in this arena, the sport is often a gateway to higher education for hundreds of kids who may have never had the opportunity.

She says, "All we have to do is create an avenue for them to be successful and to have a pride"
