Arlington Police Officer Being Investigated By FBI Commits Suicide
ARLINGTON (CBSDFW.COM) – An Arlington police officer, who was being investigated by the FBI, committed suicide Tuesday afternoon.
Officer David Vo, 35, who joined the department three years ago was the subject of a joint investigation involving federal and state authorities. He had been arrested over the weekend and released pending charges. His body was found in an open field in the 2400 block of Park Run Dr., near his home.
Another officer, 45-year-old Thomas Kantzos, a 17-year veteran of the department, was arrested and charged with Fraud and Related Activity in Connection with Computers. Both Kantzos and Vo had been placed on administrative leave. Kantzos is being held in protective custody in the Tarrant County jail.
A third employee of the department, Officer Craig Hermans, is also on administrative leave and is being questioned in connection with the criminal investigation. Hermans has been employed with APD for three years.
In a statement released by the department Arlington Police Chief Will D. Johnson said, "Criminal misconduct by our employees is intolerable as it damages the trust and confidence of those we serve. We will always aggressively pursue the arrest and prosecution of any employee engaged in this sort of behavior."
Both the FBI and Department of Public Safety Texas Rangers are investigating this case.
