Hot-Air Balloon Hits Power Line In Michigan; No Injuries

NAPOLEON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - Police say a hot-air balloon struck a power line while descending in southern Michigan, knocking out power to a few dozen homes.

No one was injured.

Napoleon Township police Officer Paul Albrecht tells the Jackson Citizen Patriot that the balloon was part of a Friday morning launch for Jackson's Hot Air Jubilee and was landing in an open field behind a home in Jackson County.

Balloon passenger Diane Stevens of Jackson says the balloon "just clipped the power line." Police and a utility crew responded.

Hot Air Jubilee safety director David Seekell says no one was hurt and the balloon didn't sustain significant damage. The event runs through Sunday.
