The Detroit News has launched a new opinion Web site, TheMichiganView.com, reflecting the paper's conservative editorial-page tone.
The site offers comentary from Detroit News writers Nolan Finley, Jeff Hadden, Manny Lopez, and Henry Payne. Also featured are top Michigan commentators like WJR Radio's Frank Beckmann, The Mackinac Center's Jack McHugh and Ken Braun, Gary Wolfram of Hillsdale College, The Michigan Tea Party's Wendy Day, humorist and corporate PR veteran Jason Vines and many others.
Headed up by award-winning political cartoonist and writer Payne, The View is a one-stop shop for conservative commentary delivered with intelligence and wit.
"The Michigan View is the kind of commentary that I like to read," says Payne. "It is funny, opinionated, points fingers and takes names. And it comes from people who know what they are talking about."
In addition to breaking commentary, The Michigan View.com offers "The Watercooler," a blog where Michigan's best minds meet to discuss the day's news; a constantly updated RSS feed of the best national sites so you can keep track of national events as well; content from Michigan's best blogs and links to must-read journals including Michigan Capitol Confidential, Car & Driver, and The Heartland Institute; and video and satire covering Michigan's galloping zoo of politics and business.
"Like National Review Online or The Drudge Report nationally, TheMichiganView.com will be a must-read for Michigan readers looking for conservative commentary on news impacting Michigan," Payne said.
