Detroit Lions Player Won't Face Sex Assault Charges

DETROIT (WWJ) - A Detroit Lions player, accused of inappropriate conduct at an after-hours party earlier this month, is off the legal hook.

Authorities never identified the player who had been accused of sexual misconduct by a 22-year-old woman who claimed she was assaulted in the early morning hours of January 4th at the Ironwood Grill in Plymouth.

The Wayne County Prosecutor's Office has declined to bring charges, saying there is "insufficient evidence" to persuade a jury that a crime was committed. Plymouth Police Chief Al Cox, who said his department interviewed around ten witnesses, calls the decision not to file charges appropriate.

Cox says the Lions and the player involved cooperated in the investigation.
