The Heat Continues All Week

By Lauren Whitney

DENVER (CBS4) -

A roaster of a day in Colorado, we tied a daily record high from 1946 here in Denver by hitting 95 degrees. Most of the day was clear and sunny, but clouds rolled in late in the afternoon. This helped keep us from getting warmer! Prior to Tuesday, the hottest day so far this year was the Saturday before Memorial Day when we hit 94° in Denver.

Tuesday is our seventh day so far this year with a high temperature in the 90s. Last our first 90° degree day did not arrive until June 9th and we average only 40 days at or above 90° each year.

A slight cool down on Wednesday as a weak cold front moves through Kansas and Nebraska, just clipping eastern Colorado. We'll drop about five degrees, and bring a little bit better chance for storms to eastern Colorado. If you do get a storm, there is a chance it turns severe. Hail and wind would be the biggest threats from these storms.

More heat and dry conditions for the rest of the week. We may see a few more storms on Friday.
