High fire danger across Colorado on Sunday
High fire danger is expected Sunday across much of Colorado.
Red Flag Warnings have been issued for portions of the Western Slope, Four Corners Region, San Luis Valley, and Eastern Plains. They will go into effect at 11:00 AM through 8:00 PM.
Winds are expected from the south between 20-30 MPH with gusts up to 45 MPH, the relative humidity will drop as low as 10%, and temperatures will surge into the 70s and 80s.
The combination of these three ingredients has prompted the warnings. Winds act as a mode of transportation for embers, and low relative humidity implies the air is dry, meaning the embers can travel without being put out.
