The rat hole became an internet sensation and a tourist attraction in Roscoe Village this year.
A resident wrote on Reddit that they were glad the rat hole has brought people joy, but added "we need you all to chill out. Please."
The so-called “rat hole” on a sidewalk in Roscoe Village has become a nationally-known icon – to the point where it has been the site for a marriage proposal and even a wedding. But neighbors on the residential block where it's located have had it. CBS 2's Noel Brennan reports.
For the last few weeks, Chicagoans and visitors from across the world have come to visit the rat hole – on the sidewalk on the south side of Roscoe Street just west of Wolcott Avenue.
Fans covered the again-exposed rat hole on Roscoe Street with spare change.
Just last week, the rat hole became famous well beyond the residential block where it marks the sidewalk.
The rat-shaped hole is found in the 1900 block of West Roscoe Street in Roscoe Village.
Neighbors said the situation was very scary because, at the time of the incident, there were five kids sleeping inside the home.
In all four robberies, they were in a white sedan and used rifles.
One of the robberies happened right outside the Four Moon Tavern in Roscoe Village and was caught on camera. CBS 2's Tara Molina reports.

"We wanted to take this opportunity to really highlight local female artists, and also kind of highlight some of our vacancies in the neighborhood," said Nicole McLellan, community development director for the Lakeview Roscoe Village Chamber of Commerce.
