Israel is delaying a planned release of hundreds Palestinian prisoners in protest over “humiliating ceremonies” held at handovers of Israeli captives in Gaza. The announcement came as Hamas released six more hostages on Saturday, five of them escorted by masked militants and paraded in front of crowds.
On Saturday two hostages were handed over to the Red Cross in southern Gaza. Officials say one man is a 40-year-old who was taken during the Oct. 7 attack. The other is a 39-year-old who has been held since crossing into Gaza on his own years ago.
Hamas released four bodies, including the youngest captive taken in the Oct. 7, 2023, terrorist attack, Kfir Bibas, and his brother.
The husband and father of those victims were freed earlier this month.
Hamas says the remains are of Shiri Babas and her two children, Ariel and Kfir, who was 9 months old when they were taken. His brother was 4 years old.
Hamas says it will not only release more Israeli hostages than expected this week, but the terrorist group will also hand over the bodies of 4 slain captives.

Israel released dozens of Palestinian prisoners after they received three men who were held hostage in Gaza. The hostages, Eli Sharabi, Ohad Ben Ami, and Or Levy, looked gaunt and frail as Hamas militants paraded them before hundreds of people in the Gaza strip before their release.

2 Israeli women and an 80-year-old male hostage, along with 5 Thai nationals, were released in Gaza, but Israel delayed its part of the exchange, accusing Hamas of "shocking scenes" at one handover.
