Just two days into padded practices and the Bears are already suffering crucial injuries.
The QB has spread the ball around in practice, but accuracy is still an issue.
The Bears put on the pads Sunday for the first time in training camp, giving the offensive and defensive lines their first real chance to stand out on the practice field.
The Martellus Bennett Show didn't stop after practice ended.
While the Bears' offense is undergoing a major overhaul with new head coach Marc Trestman, there is one guy on the other side of the ball who taking on the brunt of change on a unit that otherwise is staying mostly the same.
The Bears took the field Friday morning at Olivet Nazarene University for their first practice of training camp. Here are some quick observations from what we saw:
The bell has rung. Class is in session. Professor Trestman's students better listen, particularly, Mr. Cutler. You too, Mr. Webb.
Mills won't be a starter in 2013, but he adds quality, young depth to a group that desperately needs it. Looking down the road, Mills projects as a right tackle or guard prospect.
As far as Trestman goes, I have a really hard time believing all the players—veterans especially—are going to be so gung-ho with his make-a-new-friend-today tactics as he described at a press conference on Wednesday.
With all the focus on contract talks, Friday's practice will be a welcome change.
