On the 12th anniversary of the repeal of "Don't Ask, Don't Tell," the Department of Defense will take steps to help restore honor to veterans who were discharged from the military for their sexual orientation. A 2022 CBS News investigation found tens of thousands of LGBTQ+ veterans who received a discriminatory discharge were restricted from accessing their due benefits. CBS News' Jim Axelrod reports from New York.
The Pentagon plans to make it easier for LGBTQ+ veterans to retroactively obtain honorable discharges they may have been denied because of their sexuality.

The Gay Softball World Series is well underway this week at several ballparks throughout the Twin Cities. More than 200 teams are here from all over the US and Canada, but Minnesota has some strong representation in this tournament.
The City of Boston announced on Tuesday that it will no longer require sex or gender identification on marriage licenses.
"We are in Africa and we are in Nigeria," said a police spokesperson. "We cannot copy the Western world because we don't have the same culture."
In all, 225 teams from 54 member cities make up the Gay Softball World Series. It's also a big first for this softball tournament, as the Minnesota Twins are the first Major League Baseball team to partner with the event in its 46-year history.
Police say the man who shot a store owner in Southern California over a Pride flag outside her store also posted multiple anti-LGBTQ messages on social media. CBS News' Elise Preston reports.
