At the G7 summit, all of the world leaders have agreed on a new $50 billion loan to help Ukraine rebuild, to be paid for with the interest from frozen Russian assets. The U.S. has also imposed new sanctions on foreign banks that do business with Russia.
President Biden is at the G7 summit in Italy where he is signing a security agreement with Ukraine. It commits the U.S. to support Ukraine for the next 10 years with military training, weapons assistance and intelligence sharing. Biden and other world leaders are also hoping to finalize a plan for a $50 billion loan to Ukraine so it can rebuild infrastructure and produce more of its own weapons.
The Senate is set to vote on legislation protecting IVF nationwide amid growing opposition from conservative groups. Southern Baptists have also made a divisive decision on IVF.
The end of the Supreme Court's term is nearing as it still has a long list of high profile and controversial cases to settle. The cases include abortion access, gun rights and whether former President Donald Trump can be criminally prosecuted.
Voters in 27 countries have elected more far-right members to the European Parliament. They include candidates who campaigned against immigrants, support for Ukraine, climate change policies and dependence on trade with China.
Hunter Biden's criminal trial could head to the jury as soon as today after several members of the Biden family testified last week. It is not yet known if Hunter Biden will take the stand in his own defense. He has pleaded not guilty to all charges, including that he made false statements about drug use on a federal form when he bought a gun in 2018.
The latest CBS News poll, which comes as President Biden ended his D-Day trip to France and former President Trump campaigned in two battleground states, shows the two candidates in a virtual tie in the presidential race. A majority of likely voters said in the poll Trump's conviction is not a major factor in the election.
While on his trip to France, President Biden met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Biden has pledged to continue to support Ukraine as he expressed concern about the future of global democracy. Biden is scheduled to speak on Friday at Pointe Du Hoc in France.
For the first time since he was convicted in his New York criminal trial, former President Donald Trump hit the campaign trail in the battleground state of Arizona. Trump is teasing a vice presidential pick, saying he may announce his running mate during the party convention next month.
President Biden is attending events in France as part of a five-day visit to honor the sacrifice of those who died on D-Day. His plans include touring the American cemetery there.
