BOSTON (CBS) - Peter Abraham of the Boston Globe joined Toucher & Rich Tuesday to discuss his interview with Red Sox pitcher Jon Lester and the latest on the Theo Epstein-Cubs saga.
When will the Red Sox deal get done with Chicago?
"I was pretty convinced that it would happen at some point today because the World Series is coming up tomorrow and Major League Baseball wants teams to take care of business not during the World Series. There were indications last night that it's not necessarily going to get taken care of today, that this is dragging out a little bit," Abraham said.
As for Lester, did his comments about the clubhouse behavior confirm that manager Terry Francona lost control of his team at the end?
"Yeah certainly, given what he said on his way out the door and now what Jon Lester has said and what has been almost a blanket silence from the other players, certainly seems to indicate that he had lost that clubhouse and probably lost his ability to be an affective leader," Abraham said.
By speaking out, has Lester made himself look better or worse?
"I think the fact that he stood up and admitted it and took some accountability for what happened obviously is a positive thing," Abraham said.
How realistic is it that the ownership will try and get rid of Josh Beckett in the offseason?
"I don't think it's realistic and I don't think it makes any sense to be honest with you," Peter said.
