McCormick & Company Recalling Taco Seasoning

BOSTON (CBS) -- McCormick and Company has announced the recall of a specific brand of their taco seasoning mix due to an unlabeled ingredient which can cause severe reactions to people with milk allergies.

The company is recalling containers of their 24 oz. Club Size Original Taco Seasoning Mix that have "best by" dates of June 27, 2018 and September 16, 2018 from stores.

They said some of their dairy-free bottles inadvertently had whey added to them. In a release, the company listed hives, upset stomach, vomiting, and, in rare cases, death by anaphylaxis as possible reactions in those allergic to milk.

The company said that, so far, they've received one notification of an allergic reaction from the taco seasoning.

Customers who bought the mix are advised to throw it out, and to contact McCormick Consumer Affairs for a replacement or refund.
