Patriots Blog: Gold Stars, Penalty Flags From Week 17 Win Over Bills

BOSTON (CBS) -  Sunday's 34-20 win over the Buffalo Bills was just a solid ending to the season for the Patriots.

Here are your Gold Stars and Penalty Flags for the Patriots' regular-season finale:

The Gold Stars

- LeGarrette Blount gets a gold star and this one is obvious after 189 yards rushing with two touchdowns and 334 yards of total offense. Blount has emerged as the bruising back the Patriots need. He eats up yards on the ground and he does not fumble the ball.  Blount emerged as the Patriots' second star as the season winded down.

- The Pats offensive line gets a gold star. They opened holes for the running game and controlled the line of scrimmage. They have become a very physical bunch in the last couple of weeks. Let's also give big up to Logan Mankins, who got hurt in the first half but came back in and just dominated.

- Bill Belichick gets a gold star. A great coach makes all the difference. That's never been more true after he lead this Patriots team to 12 wins despite the a slew of major injuries. Coach kept everybody together, and they all believed in this team. Now they are in the postseason with a bye.

The Penalty Flags

- Hard to find one in this game but if I was nitpicking, the Pats just need some production, any production from the tight ends. I know it's tough without the star power they had heading into the season, but they have to get something from the likes of Michael Hoomanawanui and Matthew Mulligan in the postseason.
