BOSTON (AP) — The price of a gallon of gasoline in Massachusetts has fallen for the sixth consecutive week and is now at its lowest mid-August level in more than a decade.

AAA Northeast reported Monday that self-serve, regular dropped 4 cents in the past week to an average of $2.48 per gallon.

That is 19 cents below the national average and 99 cents below the in-state price a year ago.

The low prices at the pump are being credited to a global crude oil oversupply and continued economic woes in Asia.

The last time prices were this low in mid-August was 2004.

AAA found self-serve, regular selling for as low as $2.25 per gallon and as high as $3.05.
