Franklin Police: Man Pours Gasoline On Home, Threatens To Blow It Up

FRANKLIN (AP) — Police say officers shot a man in southeastern Massachusetts after he poured gasoline on his home and threatened to blow it up.

Police say the incident happened around noon Tuesday at a home on School Street in Franklin. Davis Thayer Elementary School was evacuated as a precaution.

Police say officers discovered the 43-year-old man holding a gasoline can threatening to hurt himself. He poured gas inside and outside of his home and threatened to sever the main natural gas line to blow up the structure. Officers shot him in the leg and took him into custody.

The man is a patient at Riverside Mental Health Services.

Authorities say he has been taken to Milford Regional Medical Center for physical and mental health evaluations.
