Crews initially responded to a fire, which was confined to a third-floor apartment at Linskey-Barry Court, before 3 a.m.

There, they found the bodies of Richard Halloran, a war veteran in his 60's, and 52-year-old Diane Bourglas. The two were roommates.

"As firefighters were making entry into the apartment battling the fire, during their primary search, they discovered a man and a woman. They were pronounced dead at the scene," said Steve MacDonald, the spokesperson of the Boston Fire Department.

Sources told WBZ NewsRadio 1030 that there were two separate fires at the apartment. Sources said the woman was found on a couch and the man was discovered in a bed in a separate room.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. Arson investigators were at the scene Sunday.

"No determination has yet been made by investigators as to whether the fire was intentionally set or how the deceased died," said Jake Wark, the press secretary for the Suffolk County District Attorney's office, in a statement on Sunday.
