Daily Talker: Powerball Excitement

There's at least one jackpot winner in Wednesday night's Powerball drawing. The estimated jackpot was $1.5 billion.  That's a world record for any lottery jackpot game.

One winning ticket was sold at a 7-Eleven in Chino Hills, California, a suburb of Los Angeles. Hundreds of people crowded the store and the parking lot after hearing the news. People were cheering and chanting. It looked more like a celebration you would see after winning a game. As far as we know, none of those people had the winning ticket. The store does get a $1 million bonus for selling the winning ticket. You could see the excitement in the clerk's eyes and hear it in his voice when news crews talked to him.

What do you think of all this excitement? Would you celebrate if you didn't win? Would you be excited if your local convenience store sold a winning ticket?
