Daily Talker: Later School Start Times
All across the country, more and more school districts are listening to scientists, and setting high school start times later.
A Boston Children's Hospital doctor wrote the report the American Academy of Pediatrics adopted, saying expecting teenagers to show up to class before 8 a.m, isn't good for their health or their report cards.
Studies show later start times help combat sleep deprivation and improve academic success, attendance, mental health, even sleep-related car accidents.
Seattle just adopted an 8:45 a.m. start time, joining 70 other districts who have made the move in recent years.
Should more schools follow suit?
What do you think is the ideal start time?
