Chelmsford Native Killed In Oakland Warehouse Fire

BOSTON (CBS/AP) – A Chelmsford native died in the massive warehouse fire in Oakland last week. Fire crews confirmed that 34-year-old Amanda Kershaw was killed in the blaze.

Her family had not heard from her since the fire on Friday night, but they received word Tuesday afternoon.

It is believed 36 people died in the fire, including two other Massachusetts natives.

Kershaw was a dancer with a passion for music, loved ones told The Lowell Sun.

Allen's husband, Andy Kershaw, a DJ, called her vibrant and magnetic. She graduated from Bridgewater State University in 2004 and moved to San Francisco from Boston in 2008.

Chelmsford native Shannon Fisher said Allen took ballet as a child and later embraced "that underground musical life." Fisher described Allen as smart and funny, with a laugh that comes easily.

Amanda was an influential high school friend for Peter Sylvain. "I expected Amanda to have a long and full life and I can't believe that she's really gone," Peter told WBZ-TV.
