Bruins Must Take The Next Step

Bob Beers joined Tony Massarotti on today's show, filling in for Michael Felger. The Bruins are a lot busier this offseason than in years past and the guys talk about taking the next step to the ultimate goal of winning a Stanley Cup.
Bob Beers: "People didn't like the way they [Bruins] played last season. Some felt that some players took a couple steps back. This is such an important year for the Bruins even in addition to having the 2nd overall pick in the draft. Now is when you make the next step. You got to see that improvement this year. You want to see them continue to win and make it past the 2nd round of the playoffs to get to the Stanley Cup."
Tony Massarotti credits Cam Neely for the Bruins being more aggressive this offseason, but understands that it's a joint effort between him and Peter Chiarelli.
Tony on the Bruins offseason moves, "The Bruins are more proactive this time of the year than last. Last year, much of their energy was invested in tying up their young pieces. In terms of the team on the ice, they lost something at the end of the 08-09 season after they lost Kessel. Call it complacency or whatever you want to call it. There wasn't any growth or progression. This year they're taking a different approach and how much of it is Neely's influence"?
