Boston City Council To Vote On Turner's Fate
BOSTON (CBS) -- Boston City Councilor Chuck Turner is as defiant as ever.
With a vote coming Wednesday that could remove him from his city council seat, Turner said today, "Legally, they have the power, but I don't know if they have the moral power!"
Tuner was convicted of attempted extortion, after being caught in the same undercover sting that bagged former state Sen. Diane Wilkerson.
WBZ-TV's Bill Shields reports.
The FBI operation was in 2008 and Turner will be sentenced next month, but instead of waiting for his sentencing, the Boston City Council is poised to remove the 5-term councilor Wednesday.
Council President Michael Ross said today, "We are not above the law, and none of us is above the rules we have established as a body."
Ironically, Chuck Turner helped write the rules of the Council that applies to someone convicted of a crime.
