Arrest made in Regis College murder

A Boston man was arrested Thursday morning the murder of a young man on the campus of Regis College last week.

20-year-old Robenson Daniel is now charged with murder, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, assault with a dangerous weapon, and armed assault with the intent to murder.

Prosecutors say he stabbed 18-year-old Elhaji Malick Ndiaye of Waltham and another man in a parking lot outside a dormitory early Friday morning. Neither was a student at the school.

Ndiaye died. The other victim, a 22-year-old from Waltham, was treated at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and released.

THE ATTACK

After announcing the arrest Thursday, investigators also released the first details about the incident.

They say Daniel and the victims were on campus with friends visiting Regis students.

Witnesses say the two groups had "an initial exchange of words" in a dorm, then left.

The argument continued into the parking lot, where it escalated into a fight.

Prosecutors say Daniel stabbed the unidentified man from Waltham several times before a witness could separate them.

Moments later, Daniel allegedly stabbed Ndiaye in the chest as he was standing nearby.

Authorities did not reveal a motive.

A Regis College spokesperson said campus surveillance video helped lead police to Daniel.

He was arraigned in Waltham District Court Thursday and ordered held without bail.

He is due back in court November 5 for a probable cause hearing.
