Video Evidence Review In Maryland Trooper's Slaying Of Man

FREDERICK, Md. (AP) -- Police say they're reviewing video that could help explain why a trooper fatally shot a man who lunged at him after ramming a police cruiser at a western Maryland gas station.

State police spokesman Greg Shipley said Tuesday that investigators are reviewing video from the trooper's car and from the Frederick gas station and checking for additional video from nearby businesses.

Shipley refused to release any video, calling it "evidentiary."

Police haven't released the name of the man who was shot Monday. They say he was driving a Lincoln Navigator that was reported stolen during an armed robbery Sunday in Baltimore.

Police say they found a large folding knife in the man's possession, but they don't have a clear indication that it was in his hand when he lunged at the trooper.
