Stormy weather will impact Maryland through Thursday
An unsettled weather pattern will bring stormy weather to Maryland through the middle of the week.
Low clouds, nearly steady temperatures in the mid-60s and areas of drizzle are in the forecast Monday night. Areas of dense fog will increase after midnight. A few rain showers are also possible Tuesday morning. However, rain won't be as widespread as it was Monday morning.
Risk of stormy weather Tuesday in Maryland
Tuesday afternoon turns much warmer across most of Maryland.
Plan on a mixture of sun and clouds Tuesday by Tuesday afternoon. Temperatures warm to near 80° as winds turn southerly. Widely scattered strong storms are possible Tuesday afternoon and evening. A severe storm cannot be ruled out. There is still uncertainty with how widespread and strong storms are Tuesday evening. Gusty winds and hail are possible with any storm that becomes severe. A tornado cannot be ruled out, mainly south and west of our area. Stay in touch with the First Alert Forecast.
Midweek heat and risk of severe weather
Wednesday will be hazy, hot and muggy. Temperatures soar into the upper 80s and lower 90s Wednesday afternoon. Scattered strong thunderstorms are again possible. Any storm could produce heavy rain, intense lightning and gusty winds.
The WJZ First Alert Weather Team has tagged Thursday as a possible Alert Day for a greater risk of strong to severe storms. Storms will probably arrive after 2 p.m. and last into the evening hours. Temperatures soar into the lower 90s, before storms arrive. Factor in the humidity, and it may feel like it is in the upper 90s to near 100°!
Summer-like weather for AFRAM weekend
We finally have a dry weekend across Maryland in the forecast. But, it will get increasingly hot. Saturday is the more comfortable of the two weekend days. Plan for sunshine and highs near 90°. Humidity surges into the area Saturday evening.
Heat and humidity spike across Maryland Sunday. High temperatures soar into the low and mid- 90s. It's going to feel like it's 100°, or even hotter in a few spots, with humidity factored in. Drink plenty of water. Find some shade. Take breaks from the heat - no matter what you're doing outside this weekend.
Heat intensifies next week
The area of high pressure responsible for the increase in heat and humidity over the weekend anchors over our area next week. Expect afternoon temperatures in the mid and upper 90s Monday and Tuesday of next week. Heat could persist into the middle of the week. Stay tuned.
This could be our first round of dangerous heat this season!
