Crash Claims Teen's Life, Family Speaks Out

BALTIMORE (WJZ)— A Baltimore family is in shock after a soon-to-be high school graduate is killed in a horrible car accident.

Kai Jackson explains the car that crashed was stolen.

Police continue their investigation into the fatal crash while family members of one passenger prepare to say goodbye.

Lishina Miller was days away from coming-of-age events for teenagers: her prom and graduation from high school.  Sadly, the 17-year-old died Thursday night after a violent car accident on a rain-slicked Belair Road.

"She was smart, intelligent," said Keith Townes, victim's uncle. "I mean words can't explain it."

On Friday, family and friends visit and keep vigil outside Miller's West Baltimore home.

Loved ones are stunned that the young mother of a 1-year-old daughter is gone.

Charlotte Boyd is Miller's aunt. She saw the teen 20 minutes before she died.

"You just have to trust the Lord for this time 'cause we don't understand why such things would be allowed. But we know God will be able to strengthen us and take us through this very tragic time," Boyd said.

Miller was a passenger in the backseat of a car that city police say was stolen from Baltimore County. Investigators say for some reason the driver lost control and slammed into a tree.

"I know my child. She wouldn't have gotten in the car if she knew that," said Maria Boyd, Miller's mother. "She wouldn't have gotten in."

Miller and three others, including the driver, were taken to the hospital. Two men and a woman survived.

Family members say they are not focusing on the circumstances surrounding Miller's death. Instead their focus is on honoring her memory and raising her daughter London.

"Everyday your child comes home from school, work, wherever she come from, hug her, kiss her, tell her you love her because you never know. You'll never know when you'll see her again," said Townes.

No identities of the victims have been released. At last word, the two males were in critical and unstable condition in the hospital. The 19-year-old female was treated and released from the hospital.

So far no charges have been filed.

Miller would've graduated from Francis M. Wood High School next week.

No funeral arrangements have been planned.
