Baltimore County Police shoot, kill man in Essex after woman stabbed
Baltimore County police shot and killed a man in Essex late Wednesday night and found a woman suffering from stab wounds after a domestic-related incident.
Officers were called to the Kings Mill apartments in the 900 block of Holgate Drive around 8:30 p.m. for the reported stabbing
When they arrived, police said they found an armed man inside the apartment building.
"During that encounter, several officers discharged their firearms in response to the male subject's actions, striking him," police said in a statement Thursday morning.
Once inside the apartment, officers found a woman suffering from stab wounds.
Both the man and the woman were rushed to a nearby hospital, where the man was pronounced dead, according to police. His name has not yet been released.
On Thursday, officers said the woman is recovering at a hospital.
Police said one officer was hurt during the incident and taken to a hospital. There's no word yet on his condition.
It's not clear yet what led to the shooting or how many officers were involved.
"Per Department policy, they have been placed on routine administrative leave," police said. "All officers were equipped with body-worn cameras."
No other information is available at this point in the investigation. Essex is about eight miles east of Baltimore.
