Officials warn of carbon monoxide risks during extreme cold

North Texans are being urged to use fireplaces and generators safely during the extreme cold. Officials warn to keep fireplace screens in place, never leave fires unattended, and keep dampers open to prevent carbon monoxide buildup. Generators must stay outside and far from the home because they also produce carbon monoxide.
