An assistant coach's fight with stage 4 metastatic cancer has become the emotional center of Lancaster’s run to the girls basketball state championships, with players saying she embodies the perseverance that carried them to San Antonio. The Lady Tigers, making their first‑ever appearance in a state title game, are one of only a handful of Class 6A teams still standing out of 251 statewide.
