Severe weather rolled across the Metroplex early Monday morning to greet commuters.
The skies are clearing over DFW, watch temperatures leap into the upper 80's as wind gust pick up to the 40mph range. The cap is firmly in place, we are not expecting storms until a cold front gets close enough to break it. That'll be late tonight, after midnight likely.
2010 saw its share of severe weather events across North Texas. Among the most dangerous threats to human life and property are tornadoes.
They are the people who drive towards the storm as many others seek shelter. We call them storm chasers. They're the witnesses who sometimes find themselves in the middle of severe weather.
Overnight lows Saturday will hover in the 60s because of a steady south wind, but severe weather will likely descend along the eastern portion of the region Sunday evening.
It's been 15 years since air this cold has impacted North Texans and the coldest week in 22 years. Heavy snow and sleet have pushed well away from North Texas, but arctic air continues to build clouds and flurries.
A new type of radar is coming to North Texas. Dual Polarization Radar will be installed in December of 2011. This new type of radar will allow for better information about winter weather and severe weather.
