NORTH TEXAS (CBSDFW.COM) - A man on the Texas 10 Most Wanted Sex Offender List has been captured.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department took Robert Bryan Chrismon into custody without incident in West Hollywood, California. An alert deputy identified Chrismon during a traffic stop.

The 54-year-old had been wanted since September 2012 for failure to comply with sex offender registration requirements and parole violation.

In 1981, Chrismon was sentenced to 55 years for the kidnapping and aggravated rape of a San Antonio teen. He received an additional 10 years for the attempted stabbing of a Corpus Christi police officer during an arrest.

This wasn't the first time Chrismon evaded arrest. in 1986 he and three other jail inmates escaped from a Texas Department of Corrections prison after they overpowered a guard and fled on horseback. After being caught an additional five years was added to his prison sentence for the escape.

Chrismon was added to the Texas 10 Most Wanted Sex Offender list back in July of 2014.
