Sunday Afternoon Update

MOST OF THE RAIN IS NOW LEAVING THE METRO AREA. Light rain however remains in the forecast for the rest of the day into the evening.

Here are the temperatures as of 2:00 pm. These numbers around 50 degrees are almost 25° below normal (74°). In fact, these temperatures are below OUR NORMAL LOW for this time of year (52°).

They have dropped the T'Storm Watch for our southern half. Counties to our east are still under the Watch area:

We have a Flood Advisory in effect until 3pm for Anderson, Henderson and Navarro counties. Over 3" of rain has been reported just outside the Athens area:

Rainfall amounts since this morning across the metroplex have been much less, generally under a half-inch:

IS THE RAIN FINALLY OVER?

We had massive storms on Thursday. Cloudy skies and light rain on Saturday. A wash-out for Sunday morning. Is this stuff taking its leave?

Here is the 2:15p radar showing the bulk of the rain now east of the metroplex. Notice the large swath of light rain to the west over Wichita Falls up to Childress:

Our in-house forecast model seems to have decent handle on this. Follow that circled patch of rain over the next 8hrs on FutureSky Forecast:

This forecast model would suggest that this last bit of light rain (no lighting) would clear the Texas Motor Speedway by around 8p-9p and the Springsteen concert at Reunion Park by 9p-10p. The latest from the Speedway is that Driver intros will take place at 2:45p.

The Springsteen Concert is from 7:15-10:15 regardless of rain. I'm forecasting  a Big Boss Mosh Pit.
