Stormy Night For North Texas

STORMY NIGHT FOR NORTH TEXAS… BUT SOME MUCH NEEDED RAIN…

Scattered showers and thunderstorms will continue to rumble through the area for the rest of the night.  Here is a link to the latest radar…

 CBS 11 RADAR

Some of these storms may produce some small hail, but the biggest threat will be lightning and heavy rain. One or two severe storms will be possible, but widespread severe weather is not anticipated.

There is a strong upper level low spinning near El Paso. This is what the satellite and radar picture looked like earlier this afternoon.

TONIGHT…

Cluster of storms will continue to move through this evening. Overnight, a line of storms will develop just to our west and push eastward. These storms will likely move thru between 2am and 8am in the metroplex.  Before 2am there will also be numerous showers and thunderstorms.

HEAVY RAINFALLL…

There is the potential for 1" to 3" of rain overnight with some locations seeing as much as 4" of rain.  This will be very beneficial for some of our lakes.  The ground is somewhat saturated from the rains in December so a lot of this rain tonight will runoff and help fill up reservoirs. Here is a look at how much rain may fall overnight.

WEDNESDAY…

The heaviest rain will shift to the east during the morning on Wednesday.  In the afternoon, we will stay mostly cloudy with spotty light rain and drizzle. Temperatures will be on the cool side staying around 50 degrees with a brisk North wind.

THURSDAY…

Still cloudy with spotty left over drizzle and light to moderate rain pockets. Temperatures will again be around 50 degrees most of the day.

FRIDAY…

Sunshine returns and temperatures warm into the 60s. But a cold front arrives Friday night. No rain is expected with this front.

SATURDAY…

A few high clouds, but temperatures will be cooler behind the front with temps staying in the 40s most of the day.

SUNDAY…

Mostly sunny and warmer with temps close to 60 degrees in the afternoon.
