Spotty Showers Now..Better Storm Chance Next Week
A FEW SHOWERS SOUTH & EAST THIS EVENING
Most of us have been dry today, with the exception of a little drizzle/mist earlier this morning. Clouds have broken over most of North Texas, but there are still some spotty showers in our southeastern and eastern counties. This area is closer to a potent upper level disturbance near the Houston area today. Southeast Texas has seen some decent rainfall from this system, but it will continue to move away from us.
ISOLATED STORMS FRIDAY & SATURDAY
Another weak disturbance will move in from the west tomorrow and Saturday. There only appears to be enough instability for isolated showers or storms, mainly Friday night into Saturday morning. Otherwise it should stay partly cloudy and warm.
BETTER STORM CHANCE MONDAY
A strong disturbance currently off the coast of Alaska will dive southeast toward the southern United States by early next week. There is a stronger cold front associated with it as well that should move through North Texas Monday. Timing is still being worked out, but most of our computer models are slowing this system down a bit, which means the front could arrive Monday afternoon. This would increase our chances for storms in North Texas…and possibly severe weather. The computer guidance is not uniform on this system, with one model showing this to be a weak storm when it gets here, but another indicates this to be a strong storm system once it gets here. Right now, it does look like we'll have a decent chance of storms during the morning and early afternoon Monday…especially from the I35W corridor and points to the east. We'll keep watching…
