NORTH TEXAS (CBSDFW.COM) - A man has the truck he loves back all thanks to one Facebook post and thousands of strangers.
A customized Ford F-350 truck was built for show but, over the weekend, thieves decided to take it out on the road.
"Looks like they hit a tree or something," says owner Cody Hill. "There's a tree limb here."
After a wild ride through DFW, a passenger side mirror is gone and he radio and tailgate are missing.
"They popped the switch out of the column, and probably used a screwdriver to start the ignition," says Hill.
There are thousands of dollars in damage according to Hill but he says he never thought he'd see his baby again.
"It could have been a lot worse, this truck could be in pieces," says Hill.
Hill, who is from from Oklahoma, was in town for Monster Energy Supercross at AT&T Stadium. He says his pricey ride was stolen from the parking lot at the Candlewood Suites in Arlington. His friend Robbie Bryant who designed and built the truck turned to social media for help. "We reached probably close to one million people in that 10 hours," said Bryant.
A driver who'd seen Bryant's post spotted the truck on the side of the road, called police and flagged down an officer.
Police arrested the driver. Bryant says three other men in the car, took off. But the truck is coming home in one piece.
