Rainfall Totals from this Morning and a Look at the Weekend

RAINFALL TOTALS FROM THIS MORNING…

A lot of tired people strolled into work this morning.  Either the storms woke them up or their kids woke them up because of the storms.  But it was another round of beneficial rain that fell for parts of North Texas.  Some of these storms produced some small hail, but there were no hail reports larger than pea to nickel size.  There were reports of a few trees knocked down.  But the rainfall was certainly welcomed.  Here is a look at some of the rainfall totals around the metroplex.

THIS AFTERNOON/EVENING…

A cold front will slide thru this evening.  Behind it winds will turn to the northwest and become a little breezy tonight and tomorrow morning.  It will be dry for the rest of the day.  The upper level disturbance that generated the storms this morning has moved into East Texas so there is no lift in the atmosphere to get rain to develop as the front come thru the area.

COOL NIGHTS… WARMING AFTERNOONS…

Thursday will be a cool day with temps barely making it to 80 degrees with lots of sunshine and a breezy northwest wind thru most of the day.  But we will see warmer afternoons on Friday and the weekend.

FRIDAY… Mostly sunny, morning low of 55, afternoon high of 86.

SATURDAY… Mostly sunny, morning low of 59, afternoon high of 88

SUNDAY… Mostly sunny, morning low of 64, afternoon high of 90.

MONDAY… partly sunny, morning low of 66, afternoon high of 88.

STRONG FALL COLD FRONT ARRIVES MONDAY NIGHT INTO TUESDAY…

This cold front will bring us crisp, fall-like weather for Tuesday and Wednesday.  The model runs from this morning are not as aggressive with the cold air as what we say yesterday.  Yesterday they were advertising highs in the low 60s with lows in the upper 30s along the Red River on Thursday morning.  Today those forecast temps have warmed a little.  I do expect lows next Thursday morning to be in the 40s for many areas.

At this point it doesn't look like any rain will accompany the front Monday night into Tuesday, but it will become windy on Tuesday with temps staying in the 60s and 70s all day Tuesday.  Wednesday morning will start with temps around 50 degrees and then warm to near 70.  Thursday will start in the 40s with highs in the low 70s.

WINTER WEATHER FORECAST…

Be sure to tune into CBS 11 News at 10pm on Friday Evening.  I will be talking about the winter forecast.  The global conditions that could lead to more ice storms in North Texas.  I will also take you month by month and show you what I expect temperatures to be like each month.
