Rainfall Makes This The 2nd Wettest January On Record

Widespread rainfall totals of 3-5" over North Texas in the past 18-24 hours.  Incredible!  Overall this has been great news for our soils and reservoirs.  The areas of flooding have been problematic, but flood waters should slowly recede as heavy rain comes to an end through midday.  Rain has ended in Tarrant and western Dallas counties…expect all heavy rain to be in east Texas by noon.

We will see a little light rain and drizzle this afternoon and tonight, but additional rainfall amounts will be on the light side and should not aggravate flooding issues later today.

With the rainfall today and last night at DFW, it is now the 2ND WETTEST JANUARY ON RECORD with 5.87" (as of 9am).  Area lakes are filling up too with Lake Lavon rising one foot in the past 24 hours and Lake Arlington going up 2.5 feet in just one day!
