Rain Update For Tuesday Afternoon

2pm...

Rain arriving from the south in the metroplex this afternoon.  There will be occasional thunder, but mainly pockets downpours.  Coverage of the rain will increase this evening and overnight with numerous showers and thunderstorms.  Tonight is when the heaviest of the rain will fall.  Projections for rainfall put most areas between 1" to 3" of rain with a few isolated locations seeing more than 3".

SEVERE THREAT RELATIVELY LOW…

There will be some thunderstorms this evening and tonight.  They will likely have a lot of lightning with them and maybe some hail.  But there intensity may not be quite strong enough to warrant warnings.  I can't rule out a few isolated severe storms with hail being the main threat overnight tonight for Dallas and Fort Worth.  To the south and east of Dallas for areas like Hill, Ellis, Navarro, Henderson, and Anderson County… there is a slightly higher risk of severe weather with larger hail and stronger winds possible overnight.  Although unlikely, a tornado is possible to our south and east tonight.  It appears the greatest concern for tornadoes will be farther south and east toward Lufkin, Huntsville and down to Houston overnight.

MORE RAIN FOR WEDNESDAY AND THURSDAY…

The heaviest of the storms will shift east during the morning on Wednesday, but there will be cloud cover and scattered light rain lingering around during the day on Wednesday.  Cloudy skies and dreary weather will linger on Thursday with temperatures on the chilly side.  More light to moderate rain will be possible on Thursday as the upper level low moves nearby.
