Rain Arrives, Then Really Cold For The Weekend
RAIN COMING TONIGHT AND THEN THE BIG CHILL FOR THE WEEKEND…
An upper level disturbance sweeping across western Kansas, western Oklahoma and the Texas Panhandle will move over North Texas tonight and early tomorrow morning. This will generate light rain across the area with rainfall amounts generally around .25". Rain will start to move into the metroplex around Midnight and continue sporadically thru about 10am Friday morning. I can't rule out an isolated thunderstorm, but no severe weather will be with us, but you may hear a clap of thunder overnight.
COLD WEEKEND…
On the heels of this upper level disturbance is a true Arctic cold front that is racing down the Plains and Midwest. This front will arrive tomorrow night and put North Texas in the big chill for the weekend. This will give us cold mornings and pretty chilly afternoon on Saturday and Sunday. I expect high temperatures on Saturday and Sunday to only be in the mid to low 40s! This will only be the 4th time this winter where we have had back to back days with highs in the 40s.
HARD FREEZEs will take place Saturday and Sunday morning with temperatures dropping into the 20s for all of North Texas. Think about protecting any plants you may have outside and think about shelter for outdoor pets Friday night and Saturday night.
MORE RAIN CHANCES SUNDAY NIGHT INTO MONDAY…
Another disturbance will arrive Sunday night into Monday and once again bring a chance for some rain. Just like tonight's rain chance, rainfall doesn't look to be too impressive but we will take anything we can get. Temperatures will start to moderate on Monday and Tuesday of next week.
