No Left Turn Sign At Center Of Right-Of-Way Debate

FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - A North Fort Worth neighborhood trying to keep kids safe on their way to school is facing another problem, increased traffic.

With bus service cuts in Keller ISD more and more kids are walking to Timber Creek High School and Caprock Elementary near the intersection of Alta Vista Road and Funnel Street.  But homeowners say traffic trying to cut through the neighborhood is making the roads dangerous for those students.

The residents came up with a solution with the city, a no left turn sign that is in effect between 7:30-8:30 each school day.

But not everyone is on board. Parents who question the signs want a traffic study done, and say they were never notified about what was going to happen as far as signs going up.

The signs went up when school started this year. But some homeowners can't turn left into their own neighborhood. And while some think it's making it safer for students walking to school - others think it's just a big inconvenience.

Construction on some of the roads in the area only adds to the congestion. so the city installed the signs hoping to cut down on the traffic in the neighborhood and ultimately make it safer for the students walking to school.

The city of Fort Worth says this is just a temporary fix, and really the major roads need to be widened near the subdivision.

Fort Worth police say they've gotten complaints about drivers cutting through the neighborhood. and that they have issued about 25 tickets for people making a left here when they weren't supposed to.
