Near Record Highs For The Rest Of The Week

A big ridge of high pressures in the upper levels, along with strong south winds are going to help drive temperatures toward record levels Wednesday, Thursday and Friday afternoons.  We'll have abundant sunshine each day even as the humidity values start to climb.  Our forecast temperatures are more typical of late May and early June rather than late April.  For much of West Texas, temperatures will soar into the triple digits!!!

CHANCE OF RAIN THIS WEEKEND

The big dominating ridge of high pressure will break down over the weekend and allow a cold front to enter North Texas Saturday evening into Sunday.  The front will also provide focus for some showers and thunderstorms.  We don't see a strong upper level disturbance accompanying the front, so coverage of rain and storms appears to be limited at this time.  However because the air is going to be so warm and humid ahead of the front, we could see some stronger storms late Saturday and then just garden-variety storms Sunday behind the cold front.  Temperatures will come back down closer to seasonal averages by the weekend and early next week.  Rain chances will stick around Monday and Tuesday as the cold front moves back over our area as a warm front and tiny disturbances in the upper levels move at us from the southwest.

Thursday…More sun, windy, humid and hot for this time of year!  High 90°  South wind 20-35 mph.  Record high is also 90° set in 1955

Friday…Mostly sunny, windy and continued hot and humid.  High 90°  South wind 20-30 mph.  Record high is 92° set in 1987

Saturday…Becoming mostly cloudy.  Highs may reach mid 80s by lunchtime before falling back behind the front late in the day.  Slight chance of storms late Saturday evening into Saturday night.

Sunday…Cloudy, cooler.  30% chance of rain.  High 76°

Monday & Tuesday…Partly cloudy, slight chance of rain each day.  Highs: 75-79°
