Missing 5-Year-Old Mesquite Girl Safely Located

MESQUITE (CBSDFW.COM) – Dallas Police have safely located a missing five-year-old girl and charged her mother's boyfriend with driving while intoxicated with a child under age 15.

The girl was missing since Friday night, when Andy McCauley, 40, took her to a grocery store from her Mesquite home and never returned. The girl's mother called police after the two failed to return by 6 a.m. Saturday.

McCauley has a significant criminal history that includes multiple felony charges for burglary and property theft of more than $1,500, misdemeanor criminal trespassing and assault causing bodily injury of a family member.

Dallas Police officers found McCauley driving away from a suspected drug location near Barry Road and Grand Avenue just after midnight Sunday. They found the girl safe in his car after he was pulled over.

The girl appeared uninjured, a police spokesman said. Child Protective Services is now conducting a separate investigation.

McCauley is booked into the Dallas County Jail with a $50,000 bond. He was also charged with running a flashing red light, possession of drug paraphernalia and failure to present a driver's license.
