SAN ANTONIO (AP) — Authorities say a man who was shot by San Antonio officers during a domestic violence call has died.

The San Antonio Express-News reports that Steven Alfred Longoria died Saturday morning from a gunshot wound to the hip. He had been shot in the early hours Saturday as police responded to a complaint that he had assaulted his girlfriend.

Police said Longoria started shooting at officers as soon as they arrived.

Longoria's girlfriend was injured in the gunfire, though it's not immediately clear who shot her. She was hospitalized.

Two officers involved in the incident are on administrative leave.
