Major Lane Closures Begin Along LBJ Freeway
DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - Many drivers will find themselves stuck in traffic this weekend. Major lane closures begin Saturday evening along the LBJ Freeway in Dallas. It is part of the LBJ Express project to add lanes to the state's second busiest freeway.
Workers will be closing large sections of the road between Marsh Lane and Webb Chapel Road so that a pedestrian bridge can be demolished. All lanes are expected to be opened again by noon on Sunday.
The Texas Department of Transportation is urging motorists to use alternate routes while this construction project is underway, if at all possible. Click here to view traffic maps and seek new driving routes.
After this weekend's work is complete, drivers can anticipate more closures in the future as the project continues. Four additional bridges that span the freeway are scheduled to be demolished within the next six weeks.
