KILLEEN (AP) -- A Central Texas man faces charges following the death of his 2-year-old son who doctors say was severely malnourished and dehydrated.

Bell County jail records show 29-year-old George Ryan Murphy of Killeen was being held Friday on a charge of injury to a child with serious bodily injury.

Online jail records do not list an attorney to speak for Murphy, who was booked Thursday with bond set at $1 million.

Killeen police on Tuesday responded to a residential call about a child not breathing. Officers located the toddler in the living room. A police statement says the boy appeared malnourished.

The child was declared dead at the scene. His name wasn't immediately released.

Killeen police did not immediately provide additional details Friday.
