Jerry Jones Meets With Other Cowboys Coaches

IRVING (105.3 THE FAN) - Cowboys wide receivers coach Ray Sherman told me a couple of minutes ago that he met with Cowboys owner Jerry Jones for three hours today and "felt good" about the conversation.  When asked whether a promotion was in line for him, his answer, "We'll see."

While it appears that Garrett will be the guy, don't rule out the possibility that Sherman takes on the title of offensive coordinator.  Sherman has been a master at handling volatile wide receivers in his career (Randy Moss and Terrell Owens.)  He has another one on his hands in Dez Bryant, who was a little miffed on the sideline at the end of the Saints game when he was not getting any action his way.  Sherman was seen embracing him on the sideline and calming him down in the fourth quarter.  There is no question he knows what makes these guys tick, and Sherman is a much needed element of the offensive attack for reasons on and off the field.

There are also reports from ESPN's Adam Schefter that Dolphins secondary coach/assistant coach Todd Bowles will talk to the Cowboys about the head coaching job and possibly not until tomorrow.

Meanwhile the time passing debate at Valley Ranch today....Will Jerry go to New Orleans tonight for the Sugar Bowl to see his alma mater.  It would take Jones about an hour to get there via plane, meaning about the same amount of time it takes for you and me to get home in heavy traffic.  So Jerry goes in the middle of efforts to name a new coach?  Maybe that announcement gets shoved back a day for some Pig Sooie?   Even if he decides to go, it is no big deal on his watch.
