I-Team: Alarming Smoke Detector Tests
DALLAS (CBS 11 NEWS) - You would think the loud wailing sound of a smoke alarm would wake anyone up. But in an I-Team investigation, CBS 11 investigator Ginger Allen learns the most precious amongst us…may not move!
CBS 11 conducted several tests at a North Texas family's home. You'll see how the children do not move when the smoke alarm goes off.
CBS 11 returns to the family's home a week later with a voice-activated alarm. It's a new type of smoke detector that has a woman's voice saying "fire, fire" between long tones. Again, the children sleep right through our test. The report raises many questions about whether your children would wake up during a fire.
Finally, CBS 11 asks the mother of the children to return to their rooms and say their names. Their reactions are exactly what one national study and pediatricians expected.
If you are a parent, this is an I-Team investigation you need to watch.
